Memorial Day Weekend

What a great, long weekend!

We headed up to Florence Thursday evening with Virginia crying pretty much the entire way.  Things really revved up in Moulton, which seems to be the case every time we pass through that town.  V does NOT like being there!  So we had the sketchiest feeding pitstop thus far.

At the Relax Inn.

After picking up Josh's favorite, Newbern's fried catfish, we made it to Bebe and Pop's house and settled in for a game of monopoly.

Friday, Josh, Davis, and I had lunch at Turtle Point and then stopped for a Hawaiian shaved ice before heading to Josh's family's lake house.

Shaved ice, flavored syrup.  Does it get any better than that on a 97 degree, Alabama day?

Virginia and I just hung out in the shade on the boathouse.

After a dinner of steak and scallops off the grill, we called it a night.

Actually, before calling it a night, Virginia put on a little show for us.

Saturday began with a delicious frittata breakfast followed by a visit with Mummi and Doc.  We had a picnic lunch on their boathouse and V dozed off in her Mummi's arms to the sound of the water splashing against the seawall.

(Virginia's swimsuit is way too big because she had a little poop incident at their house and this was the smallest thing Mummi could find to put on her!)

Next, we made a quick trip to Turtle Point for Virginia to have her first dip in the pool.

Saturday night, the Brewer clan came over and we grilled hot dogs and ate Dad's homemade vanilla bean ice cream.

Sunday, we went to church and ate at Ricatoni's with Mummi and Doc, then headed to the lake house for a little more relaxation by the water.

That evening we went back to TP for the annual crawfish boil... only to find out that "due to unforeseen circumstances, we will be having shrimp today".  To say that Josh, Davis, and Dad were disappointed is an understatement.  The shrimp boil was still excellent and we had lots of fun.

Monday, we slept in and then had one more lake visit with a short boat ride.  There are no pictures because I had a death grip on Virginia the whole time, who was in a baby life jacket and covered up with a blanket so she wouldn't get sunburned.  I was still not convinced that the blanket was blocking the sun's rays.  Call me paranoid.

Monday afternoon, Hailey arrived in town and we had lunch and she got some cuddle time in with V.

We decided that Virginia and I would stay another night so we could visit more, so Josh drove back to Birmingham without us.  I know he missed his little girl that night!!

Tuesday morning, Virginia had so much fun watching cartoons in Bebe's room that she was pooped and needed a nap.

We rode back to Bham with Hailey Tuesday afternoon and were exhausted after the long, exciting weekend!

...And realizing that there was no food in the house, we walked down to the neighborhood pizza place for dinner.  Virginia opted to sleep through the pizza.

There was no time to rest because I had to get ready for our Crawfish Boil on Friday!  Post to come!
