Virginia in Virginia

We had such a nice time on our trip to Virginia!  This is a looong post...

Josh, V, and I arrived Wednesday night after our pleasant drive and settled in at the adorable bed and breakfast.  We ordered pizza and sat in the floor of our room to eat, while playing a game of "If this were your last meal, what would you order?" We spent about an hour talking about our favorite foods -- hah!   (We were discussing our "last meal" because we were a tad bit creeped out about staying in the B&B with no one else but the inn keeper, who was very nice, but still... We couldn't help but feel like we were at the Bates Motel and that that pizza was going to be the last thing we ever ate.)
But, alas, we made it through the night!  Thursday began with a delicious breakfast, prepared by said inn keeper.  The rest off the day, we strolled around Lexington with Jonathan, Katie, and K's parents, Butch and Barbara.  It was HOT during the day, but cooled off that evening and couldn't have felt nicer for our walks around the campuses of Washington & Lee and VMI.  We spent some time in front of Lee Chapel for photo opps, planning where to sit during graduation, and even a diaper change on the stage.

*Side note: Virginia did SO well on this trip.  Graduation, nice dinners, tours - she was an angel for it all. However, girl has a SERIOUS attachment to her momma.  She will not let anyone else hold her or she screams!  :(  It makes me feel really bad.  Hopefully this is a phase that will be over very soon.
The rest of the Little crew (Mummi, Doc, Sarabeth, Benjamin, Laura, Kate, and Henry) arrived late Thursday night.  We had ice cream and cake at J&K's and then everyone went to the B&B for the night.

Friday was another fun day of perusing Lexington with the whole gang.  We went on a tour of both the Stonewall Jackson home and Lee Chapel.

Saturday was graduation day.  It was raining on the outdoor ceremony, so those of us with kiddos set up shop in front of the buildings behind the ceremony.  The kids were all great!  (I had been worried that V would start crying and ruin the ceremony!)  We're proud of Jonny and are certainly glad we were able to be there for graduation!

The bagpipes led the procession and marched right in front of us.  Thankfully, V wasn't bothered by the noise!

After the graduation and lunch, Josh and V snuck a little nap before we headed back to J&K's to start loading their moving truck.  (They are moving back to Alabama today!)

The babies were such great helpers!

After getting cleaned up, we went out for another wonderful dinner downtown.  I love little towns where you can walk everywhere you go!

Happiest baby on earth:

And with that, Virginia said goodbye to Virginia!

  2. V is just beautiful, just like her mommy!! :) So precious. I can't believe how big Kate and Henry are too!! Goodness, the Little children are growing like weeds. And I'm so excited for Jonathan and Katie to not only have a baby on the way but to also be able to move back to Alabama. I'm thrilled for your family. Such a fun time.
